1986 Statue of Liberty Proof Silver Dollar

 Issued to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the dedication of the Statue of Liberty.

* The obverse shows the front of the Statue of Liberty with the main building of Ellis Island in the background. Also included on the front are the words “Liberty”, “Ellis Island Gateway to America”, “In God We Trust”, and the date (1986).

* The reverse features an image of the statue's torch lit aglow, along with the concluding words to "The New Colossus", a poem by Emma Lazarus engraved on a bronze plaque and mounted inside the monument. Those words are “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breath free”. Also included on the reverse are the inscriptions "E Pluribus Unum", "United States of America", and "One Dollar".
